HOUSING INFORMATION AND FEES
In the spirit of building a community of writers, we will be lodging in two large cabins nestled along Grace Coolidge Creek and across from the Game Lodge Resort (and within walking distance of our retreat meeting space in the Norbeck Room at the Creekside Resort). The Gamekeeper’s Cabin and the Creekside Cabin & Bunkhouse (custerresorts.com/lodges-and-cabins/state-game-lodge) offer a mix of private rooms and communal quarters--with enough beds for all our participants. Couples registering together (or paying for a guest registration) will be assigned the private rooms first. When registering, you may indicate if you are attending with another person, and if you are comfortable with gender-neutral room assignments.
OFF SITE LODGING: For those wishing to lodge away from our retreat facilities, the Black Hills region is a popular summer tourist destination, with a wide variety of lodging and recreational options to choose from--including within Custer State Park (Resorts: custerresorts.com or Campsites: gfp.sd.gov/campsites) or in nearby Custer (25 minutes from our venue by car http://visitcuster.com/stay). The area is very busy in June, so early reservations are encouraged. These costs are on your own.
PARK FEES: Any vehicle stopping in the park will need to purchase a 7-Day License: ($20 per vehicle)
COVID PROTOCOL: While we are guests at South Dakota State Parks, we will be adhering to the State of South Dakota Health Measures for Covid-19: https://doh.sd.gov/COVID/default.aspx. We will follow the Chadron State College recommendations regarding our instructional activities and classroom space: https://www.csc.edu/covid19/
REFUNDS: Due to limited space in the RETREAT, refunds can only be offered up to TEN days after registration. For planning purposes, there will be no refunds made after June 2nd. (Please note that if the workshop must be cancelled for any reason, we will notify all participants as soon as possible and process full refunds—and that participants impacted by any verified health-emergency, including COVID-19, are eligible for full refund at any time).
